Meisner Workshops and Coaching...

All actors seek for ways to be more alive on stage and screen. How do we bring small moments to life? How do we cry on demand, walk into a scene authentically in the grip of a strong emotion? How do we stop “acting,” stop being self-conscious and become fully present? Lyralen Kaye, MFA in Theater, helps actors to achieve these goals using the Meisner approach. Centered on the famous repetition exercise, this acting technique teaches actors how to “live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” It offers a comprehensive craft that not only answers the above questions, but gives techniques actors can practice to develop their art. Exercises and activities to build emotional realism and skill, becoming permeable and authentically responsive to other actors, learning to prepare emotionally for scenes are all part of the Meisner Technique. It is a necessity for film and for truly connected theater. Lyralen, who studied the Meisner Technique with Fred Kareman at his Carnegie Hall studio, is known in Boston for her inspiring teaching style and ability to lead actors to openness, spontaneity and dynamic performances.
